Privacy Policy

NilTaxReturn ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

Information we collect

  • Corporation name, business number, corporation number, and registered address
  • Shareholder names and Social Insurance Numbers (SINs) — required for T2 filing
  • Articles of Incorporation and supporting documents you upload
  • Contact information (name, email, phone)
  • Payment information (handled directly by Stripe — we never see card numbers)
  • Site analytics: pages visited, referrer, anonymized session data

How we use it

Personal and corporate information is used solely to prepare and file your T2 nil corporation tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency, to communicate with you about your filing, and to comply with our record-keeping obligations as a tax preparer.

How we protect it

  • All data is transmitted over TLS 1.3 (HTTPS).
  • SINs and uploaded documents are encrypted at rest using AES-256.
  • Data is hosted in Canada in SOC 2-compliant infrastructure.
  • Access is restricted to authorized personnel preparing your return.

Retention

As required by the CRA, we retain a copy of your filing and supporting documents for at least six (6) years after the end of the tax year to which they relate. After this period, your records are securely deleted unless a longer retention is required by law.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing. Information is shared only with: (a) the Canada Revenue Agency for the purpose of filing your return, (b) Stripe for payment processing, and (c) law enforcement when required by a valid court order.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information (subject to our legal retention obligations). To exercise these rights, email privacy@niltaxreturn.com.
